Discover the incomparable exquisiteness of the Viceroy Laserna Palace: luxury and splendor located in the heart of the historic center of Jerez de la Frontera. It has been passed down through generations since the conquest of Jerez by Alfonso X the sage in the second half of the 13th century.

Learn through our guided tours the exciting history of General José de la Serna y Martínez de Hinojosa, 1st Conde de los Andes, a hero of the War of Independence and the last Viceroy of Peru and Spain in America. He lived in this house in the late 18th and early 19th century.

The Viceroy Laserna Palace offers the possibility to pry into a lived noble house. The guided tours offer an invitation to travel back in time and discover the lifestyle of a family rooted in the history of Spain

The beautiful architectural design of the Palace has a neoclassical style with reminiscent of an earlier period. It has spacious rooms, exquisite decoration, and an unrivaled collection of classic furniture and valuable paintings. It represents the grand way of living of the Andalusian aristocracy.

History

The palace is located in what was called after the reconquest, Calle Real (Royal Street), then it changed to Pozuelo (Calle Pozuelo) and later on to Conde de los Andes, after the death of the 6th Conde de los Andes. The City Council named the street after him. The ceremony took place on the 18th September, 1963. It was chaired by his Lordship the Mayor Tomás García-Figueras.

From October to April, mornings from 10 to 14, evenings from 16 to 19.

From May to September, mornings from 10 to 14, evenings from 17 to 20.

Sunday from 11 to 14.

Cultural activities

The Viceroy Laserna Palace actively contributes to the impulse of the city’s cultural activity. An art gallery was inaugurated by the Minister of Culture, Iñigo Méndez de Vigo, on the 18thAugust 2015, which is next to the entrance of the Palace and overlooking the street.
